Effect identification of tin bronze plate annealing treatment

Jul 14, 2022

Due to the limited conditions, the treated tin bronze plate workpiece can generally be identified by two simple methods. One is to observe the color of the workpiece, that is, the well-treated workpiece changes from the original brass color to the blue-black color. A 2-3 μm thick oxide layer is produced on the surface of the workpiece, which is very easy to fall off; the second is that the processed workpiece can be directly bent by hand to judge.

When bending, if it feels that the workpiece can be bent while having a certain strength and elasticity, it means that the annealing effect is good and it is suitable for forming. On the contrary, the strength and elasticity of the workpiece after treatment are high, and it is not easy to bend by hand, indicating that the annealing treatment effect is not good, and it needs to be re-annealed. In order to achieve the purpose of temperature uniformity and anti-oxidation, it is generally not suitable for tin bronze workpieces to be processed in a box furnace without a stirring fan.

For example, under the condition of the same furnace loading, the treatment effect of the workpiece is compared in the box furnace without stirring fan and the pit tempering furnace with stirring fan. Under the same annealing process conditions of heating at 350 ± 10 ℃, holding for 2 h and then air cooling, the treatment results of the two are very different. The workpieces treated with the box furnace have different brilliance, high strength and insufficient toughness, which are difficult to be bent.

After processing the same batch of workpieces with the pit tempering furnace, the brilliance is more uniform, and the strength and toughness are suitable, which is beneficial to the subsequent processing operations. Therefore, for enterprises with limited conditions, the annealing treatment can be processed by a pit furnace, and a tempering barrel with a larger capacity can be used for charging. The workpieces must be placed neatly to avoid deformation of the underlying workpieces due to pressure.

Copper material standards are standards that define performance data for various coppers and copper alloys. A standard is a basic document that defines the type, form, and delivery conditions of a metal. At the same time, the standard of copper material is also the common language of communication among copper alloy manufacturers, distributors and end users. With the globalization of metals and manufacturing, the ability to compare European, American, Japanese and other global copper material standards has become increasingly important.
