The Difference Between Aluminum Bronze And Tin Bronze

Aug 15, 2023

1. Aluminum bronze material.

Aluminum bronze belongs to high-strength heat-resistant bronze. It has stable mechanical properties at high temperature (400°C), good anti-friction properties, good corrosion resistance in the atmosphere, fresh water and sea water, can be strengthened by heat treatment, can be welded, and is not easy to weld. Good machinability.

The aluminum content of aluminum bronze generally does not exceed 11.5%, and sometimes an appropriate amount of iron, nickel, manganese and other elements are added to further improve performance. Aluminum bronze can be strengthened by heat treatment, its strength is higher than that of tin bronze, and its resistance to high temperature oxidation is also better. The main purpose is to be used as screw, nut, copper sleeve, sealing ring, etc.

Aluminum bronze has high strength, hardness and wear resistance. Usually used to make gear blanks and other parts. Aluminum bronze has good corrosion resistance. Aluminum bronze will not spark under impact. It can be used to make non-sparking tools. The material has excellent thermal conductivity and stable rigidity. As a mold material, it will not create sticky molds and scratch the workpiece when stretching and rolling stainless steel plate heat exchangers.

2. Tin bronze material.

Tin bronze cast copper alloy has good wear resistance and corrosion resistance, is easy to process, and has good casting performance and air tightness. Abrasion and corrosion resistant parts that work under higher loads and moderate sliding speeds.

The tin content of tin bronze is generally between 3 and 14%, and it is mainly used to make elastic elements and wear-resistant parts. The tin content of deformed tin bronze does not exceed 8%, and sometimes phosphorus, lead, zinc and other elements are added.

Tin bronze is a non-ferrous metal alloy with small casting shrinkage. It is used to produce castings with complex shapes, clear contours and low airtightness requirements. It is widely used in steam boilers and ship parts. Phosphorus tin bronze has good mechanical properties. It can be used as wear-resistant parts and elastic parts of high-precision operating machinery. Leaded tin bronze is commonly used for wear parts and plain bearings. Zinc-tin bronze can be used as a highly airtight casting.
